The album was recorded 5th March through to 30th April, with some overdubbing being done right up to July 1973 in the Sunset Sound Studios (Los Angeles) and Apple Studios (London). Also, some additional recording were made at the Burbank Studios (Los Angeles) and EMI Studios (London). Engineer – Bill Schnee.

This is the only one solo album of the ex-Beatles in which took part all FAB 4. However, they were not all in the studio at the same time. Initial sessions took place in early March in Los Angeles. A few days later, George (who was originally in town to work with Ravi Shankar) participated in the recording of Photograph and Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond). Then, John and Yoko hit Los Angeles and John recorded I'm The Greatest with George and Ringo. On 16th April at the Apple Studios in Saville Row in London, Paul and Linda join Ringo for 15 takes of Six O'Clock.

* − under the name Bobby Keyes should be understood Bobby Keys (real name is Robert Henry Keys). An American saxophonist who performed with musicians as George Harrison, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and many others. But best known for his works with The Rolling Stones. In various sources he is often indicated under different names. Most likely this is a pseudonym.

Non-laminated gatefold cover. 'Sgt. Pepper' style cover art by Tim Bruckner. The album was packaged with a 24-page 29,8 x 29,8 cm (11,7 x 11,7 inch) booklet featuring album credits, song lyrics and Klaus Voormann lithographs depicting each of the songs. The booklet carries on a joke from George Harrison's Living In The Material World LP by providing information on the Jim Keltner Fan Club. Fans are advised to send a stamped undressed envelope to the address for Capitol Records in Hollywood.

The booklet is stapled to the inside of the envelope near the spine. During the stitching process, small dents were left on the spine of the album where the staple was attached, which is a common occurrence with this type of booklet mounting.

Stamp 'TML' in matrix number is refers to "THE MASTERING LAB" that is located in Los Angeles and established by Doug Sax - a great mastering engineer. Was back then considered one of the best ever mastering studios.

Custom inner sleeves can be of two types:

— EMI company var. 2.

In 1980 this album was re-released on EMI's budget label MFP (Music For Pleasure) with catalog number MFP 50508 an alternate cover. Learn more see here.

Разворотна обкладинка не ламінована. Стиль обкладинки під "Сержанта Пеппера" намальована Тімом Брукнером (Tim Bruckner). До альбому додавався 24-сторінковий буклет розміром 29,8 x 29,8 cм (11,7 x 11,7 дюймів) із зазначенням авторства композицій альбому, текстами пісень і літографіями Клауса Вурмана (Klaus Voormann), що зображують ситуацію з кожної пісні. Буклет продовжує жарт, надрукований на альбомі Джорджа Гаррісона "Living In The Material World" і містить інформацію про фан-клуб Джима Келтнера.
