George Harrison's very first solo single with the songs My Sweet Lord / What Is Life was released on January 15, 1971.

It was sold in two types of envelopes:
- in individual ones with a photo of George (the so-called 'Large Head');
- in standard Apple inner pack with die-cut for the labels.

My Sweet Lord became the best-selling single of 1971 (700,000 copies). Therefore, during its production, the capacities of other factories were used, where it was printed under a contract with EMI.

The labels had two types of center - for extrusion for push-out center (with 4 prong) and with a solid center.

The first edition has the following main features:
- dark Apple on the label;
- 5 lines credits 'Harrisongs, Essex Int MCPS Briteco NCB'.

In 1976, to generate interest in The Best Of George Harrison, EMI reissued My Sweet Lord with a new black and white cover (the 'Gnome'; cover) with the same catalog number as the original. Also, you can find new copies in standard Apple packages.

For the reissued single, new matrices were made, which were noticeably different from the previous ones, and on the first side, next to the matrix number, the word 'BLAIR' was engraved in the dead wax in front of the label.

The reissue labels also came in two types: push-out center and solid center.

The reissue has the following main features:
- light Apple on the label;
- 3 line credits to 'Harrisongs Ltd. / Peter Maurice Mus. Co. Ltd.'.

It should also be remembered that the first copies of the 1976 edition (as well as the first printing of 1970) are credited simply as 'Harrisongs', but these are quite rare. The first and second editions of 1976 have the same credits on the labels of the second side.

In 1985, the single was reissued again. It had a common black cover and only one type of labels - silver painted.

Найперший сольний сингл Джорджа Гаррісона з піснями My Sweet Lord / What Is Life було видано 15 січня 1971 року.

У продаж він надішов у обкладинках двох типів:
- у індивідуальних із фотографією Джорджа (так званих 'Large Head');
- у стандартних пакетах компанії Apple з наскрізним вирізом для етикеток,

У 1976 році, щоб викликати інтерес до збірки 'The Best Of George Harrison', EMI перевидала My Sweet Lord у нових художніх обкладинках з чёрно-білим зображенням (так званих "Gnome") з тим самим каталожним номером, що й в оригіналу. Також, можна зустріти нові екземпляри в стандартних пакетах компанії Apple.

Для перевиданого синглу було виготовлено нові матриці, які помітно відрізнялися від попередніх, а також на першій стороні поруч із матричним номером вигравірувано слово "BLAIR" в області збігу доріжок перед етикеткою.

Етикетки перевидання також були двох типів: з центром для видавлювання і суцільним центром.

Перевидання має такі основні ознаки:
- світле Яблуко на етикетці;
- кредити в 3 рядки "Harrisongs Ltd. / Peter Maurice Mus. Co. Ltd.". (тільки для першої етикетки другого друку)

Слід також пам'ятати, що перші примірники 1976 року видання (як і перший друк 1970 року) мають кредити просто "Harrisongs", але вони зустрічаються досить рідко. Додрукована етикетка другої сторони має такі ж самі кредити, як і перші.

У 1985 році сингл було знову перевидано. Він мав загальну обкладинку чорного кольору та лише один вид етикеток - з напилення срібною фарбою.
